Seamus Power picked up $62,240 and his first ever top 25 finish on the PGA Tour at the Career Builder Challenge.
The Waterford man has shown that he can compete on Tour, making the cut in six of his first seven PGA Tour starts. The $175,323 that he has earnt so far leaves him 84th in the FedEx Cup rankings, with the top 125 players keeping their cards for next year.
To close with a 69 was particularly promising and shows that he is learning to deal with Sunday nerves. Earlier this season, he was in a great position to challenge for the lead at the Sanderson Farms and OHL Classic, before falling to rounds of 77 and 76 respectively.
Power will need to keep the momentum going, however, since many of the big hitters – Tiger Woods, Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry among them – return this week at the Farmers Insurance Open. Power is absent from majors and WGCs as it stands, which carry extra points, so every point counts in the FedEx Cup rankings.
