It was heartbreak for Ireland’s Seamus Power at the Wyndham Championship on the PGA Tour as he lost his full playing rights, failing to make the top 125 in the Fed Ex Cup standings.
In the end, he finished 130th and while he lost full PGA Tour status, he will still get more than a dozen starts next year, though they will be scattered and planning will be a challenge.
Power was one over after three rounds, and was cut on Saturday by the MDF rule, where if more than 78 players make the 36-hole cut, a second cut after 54 holes takes place.
Padraig Harrington missed the same MDF cut, while Graeme McDowell missed the 36-hole cut.
It was a much better week for Shane Lowry, and his tied 7th finish was his best on the PGA Tour this season, but it still meant missing out on the Fed Ex Cup playoffs by two places. He is, however, already exempt for next season after winning the 2015 WGC Bridgestone Invitational.
